Dick Lennon has been involved with swimming
all his life.
His accomplishments are as follows:
- Member of the Lynn Boys Club (where
he met his future wife, Eileen) USS swimming
team
- Member of the Lynn YMCA age-group swimming
team
- Captain of the UMASS-Amherst Men's swim
team
- Red Cross volunteer swim instructor
in Water Safety, Lifeguard training, First
Aid and CPR for 43 years
- Director of Aquatics for the Medford
Public Schools teaching, coaching the
Boys and Girls High School teams, and
USS swim team for over 20 years
- Director of Community Education and
Adult Education at Medford for 10 yrs
- Member of E.M.S.O.A. for 36 years.
- Named Tournament Director of the MIAA
Girls State Swim Championships
- Named to the Eastern Massachusetts High
School Swim Coaches Hall of Fame
Dick and his wife have a son and a daughter,
both of who swam and dove competitively
in high school and college. His son, Dan,
is the lead singer of the Five O'clock Shadow
a capella singing group, whose National
Anthem CD is played at many meets and pro
events. His daughter Kate is an E.M.S.O.A.
official and the happy mother of his grandson.
Dick is now retired, balancing time between
his NH vacation home, swimming laps at Medford,
officiating, and enjoying his family and
new grandson.
